2 killed in small airplane crash at Southern California airport

Two folks aboard a small airplane have been killed when it crashed Wednesday morning at an airport within the Southern California metropolis of Torrance, authorities mentioned.

The crash involving a single-engine Arion Lightning occurred at about 11 a.m., whereas the pilot was trying to land at Torrance Municipal Airport, also referred to as Zamperini Field, the Federal Aviation Administration mentioned in a press release to CBS News.

Both folks aboard the airplane died, the Los Angeles County coroner’s workplace confirmed to CBS Los Angeles. Their names weren’t instantly launched.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the trigger and circumstances of the crash.

The metropolis of Torrance is positioned within the South Bay area of the Los Angeles metropolitan space, about 20 miles south of downtown L.A.
