Chicago Weather Alert: Severe thunderstorm warning for Kane, McHenry, DeKalb Counties

CHICAGO (CBS) — A extreme thunderstorm warning has been issued for Kane, McHenry, and DeKalb counties by way of 8:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service stated a line of extreme thunderstorms was noticed from Woodstock to Herbert round 7:10 p.m., heading southeast at 30 mph.

Impacted areas embrace Elgin, Bartlett, Crystal Lake, Carpentersville, St. Charles, Algonquin, Lake within the Hills, Huntley, Sycamore, Campton Hills, Genoa, South Elgin, Cary, Pingree Grove, Gilberts, West Dundee, Hampshire, Fox River Grove, Cortland and Barrington Hills.

Torrential rainfall is going on with this storm, which could trigger flash flooding. The storm is also creating 60 mph wind gusts.

The storm might trigger harm to roofs, siding, and timber.
