Sicilian Mafia: Matteo Messina Denaro, Italy’s most wanted man and one of the bosses of the Cosa Nostra Mafia in Sicily, has been arrested by the police. Prosecutor Maurizio De Lucia said on Monday that Denaro was arrested while undergoing treatment at a private health clinic in Palermo.
De Lucia said he had been a fugitive since 1993 and was considered one of the most wanted men in Europe by Europol, according to CNN. He said, ‘It is a victory for all the police.’

Messina Denaro was taken into custody around 10 a.m. local time following a raid carried out by more than 100 special agents with the Anti-Mafia Carabinieri in the early hours of the morning.
