India slams Pakistan for ‘politicising’ Chess Olympiad

India on Thursday criticised Pakistan for pulling out of the forty fourth Chess Olympiad in Tamil Nadu and mentioned it’s “highly unfortunate” that Islamabad has “politicised” the distinguished worldwide occasion.

Reacting to Pakistan’s choice, Spokesperson within the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi mentioned it was stunning that Pakistan has immediately taken the choice to not take part within the occasion.

It is extremely unlucky that Pakistan has politicised the distinguished worldwide occasion by making such statements and withdrawing its participation after its group has already reached India, he mentioned.

Bagchi was responding to questions on Pakistan’s choice to tug out from the Olympiad, citing the torch relay of the occasion passing via Jammu and Kashmir.

On this, Bagchi asserted that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh “have been, are and will remain an integral part of India.”
