Dhillon said on Twitter Monday that attacks on him because of his religion will not deter him or his team from bringing positive change to the RNC, including new standards of accountability, transparency, integrity and decency.
Washington. Indian-American attorney Harmeet Dhillon, who is running for the post of Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman, has alleged that he is being targeted by some party leaders because of his Sikhism. Dhillon said she would not give up and would continue in the race for the top post. Dhillon, 54, a former co-chair of the California Republican Party, faces a challenge for the post from influential leader and RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. Dhillon said on Twitter Monday that attacks on him because of his religion will not deter him or his team from bringing positive change to the RNC, including new standards of accountability, transparency, integrity and decency.
Dhillon said he received several threatening tweets on Monday. He said, “Threats are being received today. A supporter of Ronna replied to my message about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and threatened me with consequences if I didn’t stop sending “annoying” messages to voters (no one on my team has Member has not been asked to message).” He tweeted on his verified Twitter account ‘Punjaban’, “Threatened from RNC advisor for questioning another person on my team about who is the top donor to the RNC.” Call full. The message was sent that if my supporters didn’t shut up, they wouldn’t campaign or work for the RNC.
The election for the post of chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) will be held on January 27. Politico newspaper reported last week that opponents have raised concerns about Dhillon’s Sikhism, which has upset some members of the committee. Dhillon told POLITICO that it was “painful to learn that some members of the RNC have questioned my suitability to run the RNC, using my Sikhism as a weapon against me.” McDaniel has condemned such attacks on the basis of religion.
