Indiana GOP picks late Rep. Jackie Walorski’s marketing campaign director, Rudy Yakym, to switch her on poll

CHICAGO (CBS) — A little bit greater than two weeks after her dying Indiana Republicans have picked a candidate to switch the late U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski on the November poll.

She was killed in a automobile crash on Aug. 3, together with two members of her employees.

During a caucus vote on Saturday, the social gathering chosen her former marketing campaign director, Rudy Yakym, to run in opposition to Democrat Paul Steury.

Yakym will run for each a particular election to complete out the remainder of Walorski’s time period, in addition to a full two-year time period.

Despite entering into the race late, he is assured he can persuade voters.

“We have 80 days to do it, but we will not be out worked, we will not be out-organized. In the 80 days that we have to do this, we’ll be meeting with as many Hoosiers as we possibly can to hear their concerns and hear what’s on their minds,” he stated.

He has the endorsement of Walorski’s husband.
