Jan. 6 committee will make prison referrals, chair Bennie Thompson says

House Jan. 6 choose committee chair Bennie Thompson, Democrat of Mississippi, advised reporters Tuesday that the panel will make prison referrals. 

“Yes,” he stated, in response to a reporter’s query on the subject. He later stated, “We have made decisions on criminal referrals.”

Thompson did not reveal which witnesses the committee is contemplating for referrals, and he indicated that the panel has not but finalized the record of people it plans to refer. 

He stated the committee plans to satisfy later Tuesday afternoon, and he expects the prison referrals to be a part of its dialogue.
