DNA Hindi: Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council BK Hariprasad compared the MPs who quit the Congress in 2019 to prostitutes. He termed MLAs switching parties within a year as wrong. He also said that these leaders have sold their souls. BK Hariprasad’s reference was to Vijaynagar constituency MLA and now minister Anand Singh.
Anand Singh was among the 17 MLAs who resigned earlier and joined the BJP. This is the reason Congress and JDS government fell. The BJP’s entry into the state happened because of the change of MLAs. Anand Singh won the election on a Congress ticket. After defection, his membership was again revoked, after which he won the Vijayanagar Legislative Assembly by-election.

What is BK Hariprasad’s statement?
BK Hariprasad said, “Some MLAs have sold out. When a woman sells her body for a living, we call her a prostitute. What would you call it? MLA who sold out? I leave it to you.
When you did not give a clear mandate, we formed a coalition government. We call a woman who sells her body for food by different names, we call her a prostitute.
