Rutgers hires Nikki McCray-Penson as assistant hoops coach

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers has employed former Tennessee star Nikki McCray-Penson as an assistant coach for the ladies’s basketball crew.

Scarlet Knights coach Coquese Washington introduced the hiring Tuesday, a day after including former Rutgers star Tasha Pointer as an assistant coach.

McCray-Penson has 15 years of school teaching expertise, most lately as head coach at Mississippi State and Old Dominion. She performed 9 seasons within the WNBA and received gold medals with Team USA on the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics.
