S.Korea Aug 1-20 exports grow 3.9% y/y, trade deficit at $10.22 bln
SEOUL — South Korea’s exports for the first 20 days of August grew 3.9% from the same period a year before, customs agency data showed on Monday.
The country’s imports grew at a much faster pace of 22.1%, bringing the trade balance to a $10.22 billion deficit.
By destination, shipments to the United States inched up 0.8% and European Union jumped 19.8%, while those to China dropped 11.2%.
Exports of semiconductors fell 7.5%, petroleum products surged 109.3% and cars advanced 22.0%.
Exports grew 0.5% on average per working day.
