Thompson Center sale being finalized


CHICAGO (CBS)– The sale of the long-lasting Thompson Center in downtown Chicago is being finalized.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Governor JB Prtizker are anticipated to supply an replace Wednesday morning. 

Selling the Thompson Center has been a precedence for Pritzker since he took workplace in 2019. He finalized a sale settlement again in March. 

The constructing’s new proprietor is JRTC Holdings.

Under the deal, the state will get a $70 million up-front fee from JRTC Holdings, whereas conserving roughly 30% possession of the constructing, and 425,000 sq. toes of renovated workplace area within the Thompson Center.   

Pritzker’s workplace says that settlement will save taxpayers $800 million in working, upkeep and restore prices.

JRTC Holdings will preserve the constructing as a mixed-use growth with a mixture of workplace, retail and lodge area.
