The Big Ten made a daring transfer final month by saying the additions of USC and UCLA. A 12 months earlier, the Southeastern Conference made an announcement by including Texas and Oklahoma.

Who received the realignment additions?

The SEC, stated Greg Sankey.

Not essentially the most unbiased supply, the SEC commissioner. But right here’s his case … and it features a touch upon Missouri.

“(Our) two additions actually restore rivalries,” Sankey stated. “The Texas-Arkansas game last year was pretty special. Obviously, Texas-Texas A&M. You’ll have Missouri-Oklahoma, that was a quarter of the old Big Eight that are now part of the SEC, and an opportunity for Arkansas and Oklahoma to play regularly.”

Asked about future convention scheduling when the convention grows to 16, Sankey didn’t chew. Coaches mentioned the subject on the annual enterprise assembly within the spring when the league studied a division-less set-up. A consulting agency supplied 30 completely different fashions for a 16-team league.

Sankey stated the league should decide how scheduling will affect College Football Playoff entry, amongst different concerns. Regular opponents for Missouri might embody Arkansas and the Sooners.

But within the who-got-the-better of realignment query, that was no contest from an SEC perspective.
