Woolworths launches rapid delivery app Metro60

Capitalising on the growing demand for fast deliveries, Woolworths has launched a new grocery delivery app dubbed Metro60, in partnership with Uber.

The service offers door-to-door grocery delivery in 11 eastern Sydney suburbs including Bondi, North Bondi, Bondi Beach, Vaucluse, Bellevue Hill, Darling Point, Double Bay, Rose Bay, Dover Heights, Point Piper, Darling Point, Double Bay and Bondi Junction. Woolworths says it will expand its service to more Sydney neighbourhoods and then move interstate during the coming months.

Customers can choose from 4000 products across fresh produce, snacks, meat, dairy and cleaning supplies and have them delivered through Woolworth’s small format Metro stores.

Von Ingram, Woolworths’ chief transformation officer, said the new service will offer “ultra-convenience” and help customers save time.

“Whether it’s a healthy lunch, dinner solution, or a spread of gourmet cheeses and dips needed for last minute entertaining, Metro60 makes it easy for customers to top up their groceries and choose from thousands of products and have them promptly delivered.”

The first three deliveries are free, followed by a minimum spend of $20 and a flat $5 delivery fee thereafter. Customers need to download the dedicated app from the App Store or Google Play to use the service.

The launch comes after a host of grocery delivery services launched in Sydney, with mixed results.
